New Zealand

Kia Ora! Hello in Maori language. Yes, I arrived to New Zealand a week ago. I am in the North Island, exactly in the centre of it. This Island is mostly covered by active Vulcanos, Geysers, vulcanic lakes and geothermal activity.

Kio Ora! Ciao in lingua Maori. Ebbene si', sono arrivata in Nuova Zelanda una settimana fa. Sono nell'Isola del Nord e precisamente al suo centro. Questa terra e' ricoperta da Vulcani attivi, Geysers, laghi vulcanici ed e' ricca di attivita' geotermali.

First I went to Taupo. I did the Tongariro Alpine Crossing...in another words I saw the Mt Ngauruahoe better known as Mt Doom! Who loves Lord of the Rings movies would enjoy the pictures! The crossing was exhausting and very hard. It lasted 8 hours but crossing that vast land was amazing!

La prima citta' e' stata Taupo. Ho attraversato la zona vulcanica del Tongariro, in altre parole ho visto il Monte Ngauruahoe meglio conosciuto come Mt. Doom. Chi ama Il Signore degli anelli apprezzera' le foto! La scalata e' stata molto pesante e stancante, e' durata 8 ore ma e' stato magnifico!

 After 3 hours the first part of the crossing was done, have a look what I saw after reaching this point!
Dopo 3 ore la prima parte della scalata era fatta, guardate cosa ho visto una volta arrivata qua!

After having a bit of rest, I kept going the crossing. Dopo un po' di riposo, si ricomincia.

After 5 hours, finally I started to descend. It took 3 hours and I walked through a different landscape.
Dopo 5 ore, ho iniziato finalmente la discesa. E' durata 3 ore e ho camminato attraverso un paesaggio completamente diverso.

Afterwards I went to Rotoura, one hour a part from Taupo. I went to the Wai-O-Tapu National Park and I could see mud pools, spectacular Geysers and geothermal activity.

Mi sono poi spostata a Rotoura, un'ora circa da Taupo. Sono andata al Parco Nazionale di Wai-O-Tapu e ho potuto vedere le pozze dove ribolle sempre la terra, i Gaysers e meravigliose attivita' termali.

 

In Rotoura you can really appreciate the Maori culture, listening to their music and the famous Haka. The NZ rugby team is still singing this song before every match!
A Rotoura e' possibile apprezzare la cultura Maori, ascoltando la loro musica e soprattutto la famosa Haka, una canzone cantata prima dei combattimenti. Ora ancora cantata dai giocatori di rugby prima delle partite!

The sunset is coming on my 3 months trip, 2 more days in Auckland and then I will fly back to London.
Il mio viaggio e' quasi giunto al termine. 3 mesi sono ormai passati. Ancora un paio di giorni ad Auckland e poi si vola a Londra.
